Bonnybridge Naval War Memorial Unveiling

Sunday April 30th saw cadets and staff from Sector 6 attend the unveiling of the new Bonnybridge Naval War Memorial.

A service at St Helen’s church was followed by a short procession from the Community Centre to the Memorial park where the unveiling ceremony was presided over by Bailie Billy Buchanan and the Provost Pat Reid. The memorial was revealed by naval representatives from HMS Scotia and consists of an old anti-ship mine mounted on a marble base which acts as a focal point within the Memorial Gardens.

The Air Training Corps was very pleased to provide a large uniformed Air Cadet contingent for the event consisting of cadets and staff from 470 (Falkirk), 867 (Denny) and 1333 (Grangemouth Spitfire) Squadron.

We also got the chance to utilise our new events gazebo for the first time – Thankfully it stayed dry for the duration of the event but it did provide some useful publicity for the Squadron and the Air Cadets.
