RC Flying ready for take off at 470

This week we were very pleased to be awarded a training aircraft and all the necessary radio control equipment to start our own RC flying initiative at 470. The donation from the Scotland and Northern Ireland regional RC flying initiative has been funded by the RAF Charitable Trust and it is allowing many Squadrons to get involved with radio controlled flying as a way to enhance training.

It has been a long time since we participated in RC flying at 470 and the cadets and staff are very excited by this new venture.

“Over the next few months cadets will be building the aircraft and learning all about aerodynamics, control surfaces and engines, all on a miniature scale. Cadets will then be taught to fly the aircraft and gain their bronze badge. Flying training will be carried out in the local area with assistance of the Falkirk Model Flying Club” – Fg.Off Aubin Bryce – Officer Commanding 470 (Falkirk) Sqn
