470 Celebrates Nijmegen Marches Success

Aqib and Evan posing with their younger brothers

This week at 470 we were very proud to celebrate the homecoming of our two cadets who recently completed the Nijmegen International Four Days Marches in the Netherlands. This is the largest multi-day marching event in the world where 42,000 people complete in different categories to gain the coveted Nijmegen medal.

Corporal Evan Rowles and Corporal Aqib Iftihkar are the first cadets from the squadron to have completed the many months of gruelling training throughout 2017 to go on to join the West Scotland Wing road marching team. They completed 40 kilometers (25 miles) each day for 4 days which is a fantastic achievement!

We are extremely proud of the dedication to the many months of training the guys both put in and they are an inspiration to other cadets who wish to participate in next years events.

In typical 470 style we toasted their success with cake!

Cake all gone!
