Fg. Off Esson completes the Virtual Spitfire 10K for the RAF Museum

Congratulations to our very own Fg. Off Marc Esson for completing the Virtual Spitfire 10K to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. This particular run was a fundraiser for the RAF Museum and is dedicated to Pilot Officer Ronald Atkinson of 213 Sqn flying out of RAF Tangmere in West Sussex. His Hawker Hurricane was shot down by a Messerschmitt BF109 during a dog fight on October 17th 1940 – He was only 19 years old.

Fg. Off Esson said this:

“It is hard to comprehend that young lads, some as old as our senior cadets at 470 Squadron were actively engaged in aerial combat with minimal training hours in their log book during the Battle of Britain. The sacrifice of the few will never be forgotten and I was determined to make my first 10K a memorable one.”
